Bann Mao Community Enterprise
Bann Mao Community Enterprise was inspired by the way of life and local wisdom of grandparents’ generation in Suvarnabhumni district. The generation of grandparents often boiled rice leaves to drink in the morning to help treat fatigue and strengthen the immune system in the body. The community wants to develop the way of life and local wisdom into products that could be passed on from generations to generations. They start by using organic farming methods to cultivate jasmine rice and collecting rice leaves before sunrise. This helps maintain valuable nutrients, color and aroma of the jasmine rice leaves tea the best. Next, the leaves need to be massaged and baked meticulously. After the processes, it becomes“Jasmine rice leaves tea, the tea pedigree of Kula Ronghai, with pure value to consumers” under the name “Thai Suvarn”. The jasmine rice leaves tea won the first runner-up in the competition of innovative processed food products made from rice organized by Khon Kaen University and the Ministry of Agriculture in the northeast agricultural day in 2019. It also won the jasmine rice product competition (new innovation) at the 17th World Jasmine Rice Festival at Roi Et province in 2016. In addition to jasmine rice leaves hot brewed tea, the community continues to develop jasmine rice leaves into convenient products, including the jasmine rice leaves tea extract that is easy to dissolve and ready to drink, and the ready-to-drink UHT jasmine rice leaves tea to meet the market demand. Moreover, the community has also developed the Hom Mali rice creamer as an alternative to creamer that is available in the market. The Hom Mali rice creamer has a soft aroma of natural jasmine rice, which is similar but different from the current creamer.
